Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:
- Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
- *Master’s Degree in nursing required.
- Current licensure by the Iowa State Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.
- Current certification by the National American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Nurse Practitioner Job Description:
- The emergency room nurse practitioner will work in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of patients admitted to the emergency room.
- The practitioner will order, interpret, and record results of clinical tests and report results to physicians.
- Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment and will formulate a plan of care.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
