Valentine’s Day Tips for Nurses
So, it’s gonna rain hearts all over the world on Feb 14 again, and here you are thinking of how best to celebrate it with your significant other, especially because on that day, it will be your day off And well, what a rarity that is when you’re a nurse. Well, worry no longer. Below are some tips to make that special day very memorable not only for your partner, but also for yourself:
- Keep your ears open
Be mindful of what your partner is fond of as flowers, stuffed toys and chocolates might not be their thing. Know about what interests them, is your partner a basketball fan? Then you might want to score some tickets for a game. Does he/she like music? Then you may want to take her to the concert of his/her favorite band. Choosing something that’s close to their hearts will get appreciating how thoughtful and interested you are in what they love. Plus points for you!
- Be sentimental
Take your partner to somewhere important to you like the park where you first met, the restaurant where you had your first date, or even your favorite beach where you can watch the sky full of stars while enjoying the sea breeze. You might even want to cook a special dinner just for the two of you with your favorite dishes and desserts.
- Be creative
You don’t have to spend a thousand bucks to impress your partner, you just have to be a bit creative. Gauge what your date might like, and go from there. There are those who like flowers (mostly women), while there are those who go crazy over handwritten poems and letters. You may even go as far as making a photo collage of you two. Just think of really personal gifts that reflect how you feel about your love.
- Plan ahead.
This will save you a lot of headaches. Don’t wait for February 13 to get a dinner reservation. Plan ahead to make sure everything is in place and organized. If you’re planning on cooking a special dinner, shop ahead for supplies.
- Play up the element of surprise
Of course, your date might have an idea that something is up, but don’t tell them everything that you’re doing. Keep them in suspense.
- Tell them how special they are to you
Show them just how grateful you are that you have them and how they have a special place in your heart. You don’t need to go all fancy about it, just keep it genuine and real. Look them in the eyes, and tell them how they matter to you or give them your biggest hug. That way, they won’t just feel that they’re important but they will be able to tell that you really do care for them.
Happy Valentine’s Day, nurses!
