Course Description: This module includes a description of the chain of infection and its specific links, discussion of the four key modes of transmission, as well as the common infectious agents found in the healthcare setting.
Course Objectives:
- Identify the six links in the chain of infection
- Differentiate the terms: reservoirs, portals of exit and entry, and susceptible hosts
- Describe the four key modes of transmission
- Identify some of the most common infectious agents in the healthcare setting
