Nursing Care Plan – Respiratory Alkalosis
August 4, 2011 · Leave a Comment
Respiratory alkalosis is excessive loss of carbon dioxide through hyperventilation (rapid respiration). Clients may hyperventilate in response to anxiety, fear, or improper settings on mechanical ventilators. Hyperventilation can also result from direct stimulation of central respiratory centers because of fever, metabolic acidodsis, central nervous systems lesions, and drugs.
