the maximum dose of morphine is 15mg

morphine is primarily given to decrease pain w/c increases anxiety that gives additional cardiac workload..hehe mahirap yan over-ratio ^^ dont go over the bush ^^

sir/madam bakit ang action nag morphine sa m.i is to reduce pain..kc po ang alam ko pag m.i the lactic acid ang ng cacause ng pain becauseof anaerobic metabolism due to lack of oxygen… hindi po ba ang sedative effect ang purpose ng morpine sa m.i……………..

    • RJ says:

I think sir it's because morphine as a narcotic relieves pain regardless of the cause.. Aside from that, it also decreases O2 demand, relaxing smooth muscles and decrease ang circulating catecholamines.. Ang depressant effect (respiratory) is I think adverse effect na yun..

    • mystery says:

definitely the patient has pain secondary to ischemia of the the myocardial tissue. and because the pain is so severe, as it was described like "an elephant sitting on one's chest", the only appropriate analgesic are narcotics, especially MORPHINE. why sedate the patient?? sedation is a chemical restraint. and although bed rest is indicated for MI patients, sedation is not a priority action.

    • kullethqoe says:

speaking of elderly patients consider their age as one of the clue. dehydration coz their body is deteriorating including mental status kea nga kun minsan makaka limutin na.. pneumonia related to age is the leading complications of death amoung elderly.
