Gather equipment, explain the procedure and allow patient to ask question. Offer bedpan and wash hands.
Replace top sheet with a bath blanket and fanfold the top sheet to the foot part. Remove the patient’s gown.
Move patient towards the edge of the bed near the nurse, spread towel across the patient’s chess and chin.
Make a mitt out of washcloth and start washing the patient’s eye without soap.
Wash patient’s face and neck without soap using”S” method Dry.
Place bath towel lengthwise under the father arm using a long, firm strokes from the wrist, arm and axils. Rinse and pat dry, using the towel underneath.
Repeat the same fro the nearer arm.
Wash both hands in the basin with soap and water, dry. Change water.
Place towel across the patient’s chest. Start washing with the father half of the chest and abdomen in a circular motion giving extra attention under the breast and umbilicus. Wash, rinse and dry with towel. (Expose chest for male).
Do the same on the nearer half. Change water.
Drape the patient’s leg and wash the farter leg, rise and dry. Wash near leg, rinse and dry.
Place basin at the foot part of bed and wash each foot. Starting from the father foot. Change water.
Turn Patient towards the nurse and position properly. Wash the back part in a circular motion down to the buttocks. Do back care and massage. (Optional). Change water.
Place towel under the buttocks and wash the genital area or assist patient to wash and put on the gown.
Assist patient in hair and nail care. Fix and tidy the area.
